A new study by OSU shows there may be a link between radon and central nervous system cancers. Read the full study here
“Our findings indicate residential radon exposure may contribute meaningfully to the overall burden of central nervous system cancers,” said Mowrer, now a doctoral student at the University of North Carolina. From the study’s conclusions: higher radon concentrations were consistently associated with elevated malignant CNS cancer hazard, with the clearest concentration-response observed in continuous models. Residential radon exposure may contribute meaningfully to the overall burden of CNS cancers in this largest cohort study of the radon-CNS cancer association to date.
Research continues to show that radioactive exposure to radon decay products is not advisable. More research is always warranted.
