High-suction radon fans are often employed by mitigation professionals when tight or tough soils are found. It’s very hard for the DIYer to know which fan is best, so be sure to visit our fan sizing page to learn more. Radon fans, in general, have very low suction. A shop-vac can pull upwards of 30” of water column pressure, whereas the most powerful radon fans often only top 4” or so. Proper system design can eliminate the need for high-suction radon fans, most of the time. Be sure your pro is using pressure field testing techniques for an efficient system.
