Downspout & Fittings

About Downspout & Fittings

Many jurisdictions allow for radon to be exhausted through steel downspout. Why? PVC looks out of place on the side of a home. It’s heavy, difficult to work with, and unsightly. Using steel downspout can help hide your radon system in plain site. Just be sure you get your exhaust above the eve. High exhaust points away from doors and windows keep radon from being re-introduced to your home. Proper exhaust point placement also avoids mold and rot issues. Radon exhaust has a very high moisture content and can rot out soffits and eves when not designed properly. Remember, U bends are never allowed. Don’t point that radon back towards your home, use a rain guard or bird barrier instead!
