Measure radon levels with a short term test kit or continuous radon monitor.  Short term charcoal canisters are the most common.  The EPA recommends using a charcoal test kit every two years to ensure the radon level in your home is below actionable levels.  Digital radon monitors are becoming more prevalent, some–like the AirThings Wave–have a companion smartphone app to measure radon levels.
