Sump systems provide a great opportunity for perfect pressure field extension. Watch CERTI mitigation overview on our radon fan sizing page for more information on how to design these systems effectively. Remember, a radon fan cannot pull air through water, so you’ll need to be sure your draintile system is above the waterline. Entry and exit points can also “short circuit” your pressure field. Drains to daylight need a check valve (see Alpha86 drain check). Window well drains and floor drains need a one way valve (like a dranjer or volcano drain). A licensed pro will have all the tools necessary to turn a sump system into an effective radon mitigation system.
